Solenoid Valve

Solenoid valves are electromechanically operated valves that are also referred to as just solenoids. Solenoid valves vary in the facets of the valve’s electric current, the strength of the magnetic field it generates, the mechanism the solenoid uses to regulate the fluid, and the type and characteristics of fluid they control. Solenoid valves are used to manage flow rate in liquid or air-powered systems. Their tasks are to shut off, release, dose, distribute or mix fluids.

The functioning of solenoids varies from linear action and plunger-type actuators to pivoted-armature actuators and rocker actuators. The valve can use a 2-way design to regulate a flow or use a 3-way design to switch flows between ports. Multiple solenoid valves can be placed together on a manifold.

A solenoid valve offers fast and safe switching, high reliability, long service life, low control power and a compact design. Place your solenoid valve in fluidics, fluid power pneumatic and hydraulic systems. The valves are usually made from robust materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, brass or plastic—for example, our Danfoss solenoid valves can be found above.
