Cold Filter Plugging Point Test
The wax-like solidification of fuel, when exposed to low temperatures, determines its temperature usability boundary. The relevant indicator for that is the CFPP (Cold Filter Plugging Point). Usually, determination of this point requires a costly lab analysis. Due to the MARPOL regulations, usage of Marine Gas Oil (MGO) has increased significantly. Depending on the delivery date, suppliers and place of delivery, the delivered fuel has varying properties. To prevent the fuel blocks filters from insufficient cold resistance, it is essential to know the CFPP.
